(-) Require extensive areas of land submerged in still water for most of the year
(-) water hyacinth plants which is used in some cases to construct the floating rafts is an invasive species
(-) Floating gardens resilience against future climate threats such as drought, temperature increases, or soil salinity due to rising sea levels and storm surges remains uncertain.
